What Is The Importance Of A Family Vacation?

When you're a stay at home mom with two little ones like myself, the word “vacation” is very important. Vacation means a break from the four walls we look at every single day. It's a guarantee that we're going somewhere else to do things that we cannot do in our own home. And while a vacation does require some work for a parent, in the end the experience is well worth it and the “work” is a pleasure to do.

I remember the trips I took as a child with my own family. Those memories are so great that I want to create memories like my own for my children.

I remember camping with my parents and loving it. I can still remember the smells of the outdoors, the camp fire, the grill... I remember these things and my heart is happy.

I also recall a trip we took with family friends out of state. We stayed in a nice hotel, played in the pool, and had a great time overall.

And don't even get me started on my family's trip to Disney World. We had the best time together and still have the VHS tapes to watch, remember, and laugh together as often as we want. (Seriously, I fall over laughing at myself when I watch those tapes.)

The “vacations” I plan for my family don't always include an extended stay somewhere. Sometimes it's just about taking a day and doing something special as a family. Although, we have stayed at some nice hotels together and are looking forward to our own trip to Disney World later this year.

Whatever it is and whatever we do, a family vacation means a time of togetherness and making memories. And in this day and age, togetherness is the key to a happy, connected family. That, my friends, is the importance of a family vacation (in my humble opinion, of course).
