Yesterday, while leaving my friend's house, I missed a step and fell on the concrete with Alex. He started crying right away. It was a great big cry.
What did I do??
I headed right back into my friend's home to tend to his bleeding face. I grabbed my first aid kit, a cold/wet paper towel, and Alex's pacifier and sat him on the kitchen counter in front of me. Alex calmed down right away and let me clean up his scrapes. He's such a tough guy.
Now, I just have to deal with the fact that I'm the Mom who fell with the kid and scraped up his beautiful face.
I took him to a store to let him pick out a toy. (See what I do when I feel guilty?) He chose a truck set and we headed for the counter. The lady ringing us up said, "Oh! Look at his face! Someone fell down!" To which I replied, "WE took a tumble, alright." The cashier's face turned to Uber concerned as she furrowed her brow. "You dropped him?"
Obviously, I explained that we fell down together, but the cashier was not impressed.
I'm still peeking out my door to make sure Child Protective Services doesn't show up to make me explain myself.

Don't fret honey, he is a tough little man and will be just fine! Accidents happen, it's not like you meant to miss the step. Lots of hugs and kisses from mom fixes everything!! XOXOXO
