He's Really Growing Up
Alex and I had a playdate at a friend's house today. Usually, he's very shy and needs about 20 minutes before he'll leave my side and start playing. Today, he ran to play with toys as soon as we arrived at our friend's home. He was showing off his speaking skills and even flashed his silly side while eating his lunch.
As his Mom, I'm so proud of him for needing me less in familiar places. I'm proud to see his confidence soar as he plays with his friends.
It's never easy to watch this first one grow up. It seems like the time flies by. But, the more independent he becomes, the more I beam with pride. There will be times when he needs me and I'm all about giving him hugs and cuddles at those times. The rest of the time, it is my hope that he'll be wise and confident as he goes about in the world.

It is fun to watch our children become independent. I guess that is how we know we are doing our jobs as parents!
