So, I told you about my birthday surprise. I also told you the hubster is “scary good” at lying. What I haven’t told you yet is that his lies did not stop after my sister arrived. Nope! There were MORE lies to go with his initial web of deceit.
On Sunday, we planned on going over to my parent’s house for a family dinner. Honestly, I expected that my parents would invite my grandparents to join us but that’s it. The day was totally relaxed so I expected nothing. The hubster asked me when I wanted to head to my parent’s and I said, “I don’t know. Sometime after Alex takes a nap.”
So, Alex woke up from his nap and we took our time getting ready to go. Then, we all piled in the van and headed on over. When we parked in front of my parent’s house, I saw that they had invited my grandparents. Then, I saw my in-law’s car, then a few more cars behind them.
“Why are there so many people here?” I asked the hubster.
“I don’t know what you mean, Amy.” He answered.
“What are all these cars here for?” I insisted. (Then I started to tear up a bit.) “Julie and Becca are here?!?!?” (Then I really started to cry.)
“Oh, mommy. It’s alright.” Alex encouraged me.
We went in the house and I asked my mom, “Why are there so many cars out there?”
“We said a ‘family’ dinner, Amy.” She answered.
Then, my dad started getting pushy and said, “Just, come on. You have to come back here.” He started leading me toward the back of the house and I really couldn’t stop myself from crying.
“SURPRISE!” Everyone yelled and all I could do was cry and somehow collect myself enough to say “thank you”. The room was filled with family and a few close friends. It was AMAZING and I felt super duper loved.
You have to see the card they made for me based on this post.
AND, I’ll have you know, the post I wrote was “too late” as the hubster had already been planning my surprise party well before I wrote that.
Here’s a shot of some of the people who where there for the party. :)
*The one waving is pretty proud to make it on my blog. ;) I’ll call this photo “Almost Famous”. tee hee*
I also received some wonderful gifts for my birthday. (when I receive pictures of me opening gifts or posing with my family, I’ll post them for you to see.) On to some gifts…
As if her traveling from states away to be here for my birthday wasn’t enough, my sister gave me this:
A “sis” bracelet, lotion/body wash, a purse hanger/key finder, bath fizz, a Dooney & Bourke wristlet, and the coolest mug ever. See?
My father-in-law carved a blue gill for me. This is the same kind of fish I caught in 5 minutes after he and the hubster had tried for 45 minutes to catch a fish for Alex on our camping trip this past summer.
The in-laws also gave me this:
Yum! Starbucks! I can’t wait to get there to buy some yummy latte’s.
Helloooooooooooo, Gloria Jean’s! This gift of K-cups was from my friend Julie and her “Almost famous” husband. (Miss Gloria is welcome in my home ANY time. LOVE HER COFFEE!)
Becca and her family gave me ANOTHER gift card to Starbucks (YIPPEE) and some seriously cozy socks from Gap.
My family pitched in and got me THIS!!! This is a Complete Studio Package from Cowboy Studio. It has lights, 2 10x13 backgrounds, stands, and a canvas bag to store it all in. Woo Hoo! I’ll be trying this out this weekend with Eliana. :)
AND AND AND…Imagine my excitement when I got to open this little black box.
Inside the box was this beautiful ring. (Blue topaz is my birthstone.) Hopefully we’ll find time this weekend to get it sized for me.
OH! I can’t forget to send a big “THANK YOU” to my skype girls for the Amazon gift card they sent me. :) I haven’t decided what I’m going to buy myself yet but I’ll definitely “show it off” once I do make my decision. I love you gals! I wish you could have been at the party on a webcam or something. LOL
(sigh)
My birthday was just fantastic. I was honestly so moved by everyone who helped to celebrate my big day with me. 30 is looking great so far. Maybe, if I get money for Christmas, I can get myself a Nintendo Wii (or at least start a savings fund toward it) and quit my whining about it already. We shall see.
Here’s to 30!
