Broadway In Detroit 2011-2012 Subscription Shows
Come Fly Away is the new Broadway musical that brings together the legendary music of Frank Sinatra and the creative vision of Tony Award-winner Twyla Tharp (Movin’ Out). This one-of-a-kind experience combines the seductive vocals of “Ol’ Blue E yes” with the sizzling sound of a live on-stage big band and the visceral thrill of Tharp’s choreography. As 15 of the world’s best dancers tell the story of four couples falling in and out of love, audiences will experience the exhilaration of a first kiss, the excitement of a first dance, and the bittersweet moments of a first good-bye in a world of sparkling romance. Come Fly Away features a score of beloved Sinatra classics including “Fly Me to the Moon,” “My Way,” “New York, New York” and “Makin’ Whoopee.”

America’s #1 Christmas movie comes to life on stage -- A Christmas Story, The Musical!  This hilarious holiday musical is based on the writings of radio humorist Jean Shepherd and chronicles young and bespectacled Ralphie Parker as he schemes his way towards the holiday gift of his dreams — a Red Ryder Action Air Rifle BB Gun.  A kooky leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a maniacal department store Santa, and a double-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the distractions that stand between young Ralphie and his Christmas wish. Produced by the film’s original Ralphie, Peter Billingsley, A Christmas Story, The Musical! features a bright holiday score by composer/lyricist team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and a hilarious book by Joseph Robinette. It’s a perennial holiday classic that will entertain the whole family.

Million Dollar Quartet is the smash hit Broadway musical inspired by the true story of the famed recording session that brought together rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. On December 4, 1956, these four young musicians were gathered together by Sam Phillips, the “Father of Rock ’n’ Roll” at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions of all time. Million Dollar Quartet brings that legendary night to life with an irresistible tale of broken promises, secrets, betrayal and celebrations featuring timeless hits including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “That’s All Right,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “I Walk the Line,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Matchbox,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Hound Dog” and more.

Shrek the Musical, based on the Oscar®-winning DreamWorks film that started it all, brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to life on stage. In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre — not a handsome prince — shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a villain with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand… and his name is Shrek. Featuring a terrific score of 19 all-new songs, big laughs, great dancing and breathtaking scenery, WWOR-TV proclaims Shrek the Musical, “Far, far and away the funniest new musical on Broadway!” Shrek the Musical is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone!

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, the smash hit Broadway musical presented by NETworks, is coming to Detroit. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, this eye-popping spectacle has won the hearts of over 35 million people worldwide. This classic musical love story is filled with unforgettable characters, lavish sets and costumes, and dazzling production numbers including “Be Our Guest” and the beloved title song. Experience the romance and enchantment of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Fisher Theatre!

Now on the road for its first U .S. theatrical tour, Blue Man Group is best known for their wildly popular shows which combine comedy, music, and technology to produce a totally unique form of entertainment.  The New York Timesheralds the show as “One of the most delightful performance pieces ever staged.” E! Entertainment News exclaims, “Blue Man Group is what every live performance aspires to be.” Although it is impossible to describe, people of all ages agree thatBlue Man Group is an intensely exciting and wildly outrageous show that leaves the entire audience in a blissful, euphoric state. With no spoken language, Blue Man Group is perfect for people of all ages, languages and cultures.

Broadway In Detroit 2011-2012 Special Attractions
Back by “popular” demand! Entertainment Weekly calls Wicked  “the best musical of the decade,” and when it last played Detroit in 2008, it broke box office records and sold out in record time. Winner of 35 major awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards®, Wicked is Broadway’s biggest blockbuster, a cultural phenomenon and was just named “the defining musical of the decade” by The New York Times. Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One — born with emerald green skin — is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked W itch of the West and Glinda the Good makes for “the most complete and completely satisfying new musical in a long time” (USA Today).  Wicked is an extra attraction and subscribers will receive first opportunity to purchase tickets prior to public sale.

The New York Times calls Green Day’s American Idiot, “thrilling and emotionally charged, as moving as anything on Broadway!” Based on Green Day’s groundbreaking rock opera of the same name, this daring new musical tells the story of three lifelong friends forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia and features the smash hits “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,”  “Holiday,” “21 Guns” and the blockbuster title track. Nominated for three 2010 Tony Awards® including Best Musical and winner of the 2010 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album, American Idiot is an extra attraction and subscribers will receive first opportunity to purchase tickets prior to public sale.

Making an encore appearance, Rock of Ages is an awesomely good time about dreaming big, playing loud and partying on! Set in 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl meets a big city rocker in Los Angeles’ most famous rock club and they fall in love to the greatest songs of the ‘80s.  Rock of Ages is an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Night Ranger, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and many more. Rock of Ages is an extra attraction and subscribers will receive first opportunity to purchase tickets prior to public sale.
