Random-ize

What a week this has been. On Monday, I had surgery to remove the cyst on my back. I was pretty nervous as I've only had teeth pulled in the past...which doesn't count much as "surgery". Well, the staff at Troy Beaumont was amazing. They were very kind and caring to me, my Mom, and husband.
They told me that I would be put in a "twilight sleep" so that I could wake up easier when the surgery was over. (the actual surgery only took 10 minutes) What I remember is very strange. I became dizzy almost immediately after being given the "happy drugs". I was pushed down a long hall and kept saying "I'm so dizzy". Then, I passed out momentarily. The moment they moved me from the bed to the table, I woke up. I was confused as to why the surgery room was green and tiled. I felt like I was in a locker room. The nurses tried to get my arms to stretch out on the table (I must have been moving them around) and then they put the oxygen thing on my nose. They put the iodine on my back and I looked at them like they were crazy. They kindly explained why they were doing what they were doing. Here's the weirdest part; in the surgery room, there was crazy psychedelic rock playing. I don't know if it was Pink Floyd or Carlos Santana...but it was weird. I was very, very confused by all of this and then passed out for good.
What's great is that when I woke up, I didn't have any sort of hang-over whatsoever. I was a little dizzy but my stomach was fine and I felt really great. My Mom bought me a Starbucks coffee and Mike and I headed for home.
My only complaint now is that my stitches itch like mad. It's a good sign, I know, but it's really annoying. I'm stuck with them for another 2-3 weeks. Yikes! I don't have much pain at all. If I get sore, I take Tylenol and I feel much better. I feel so fortunate and I feel like God's watching out for me.

In other news, Alex started taking his first steps yesterday. I can't believe this. Mike was home to help take care of me so we both were there to see it happen. HOW COOL! Alex doesn't seem too eager to walk everywhere but I know that will come in time. I'm crazy proud of my boy. I'm trying to figure out how to get the video online to show family and friends.

AND FINALLY, I'm getting ready to take my online final exam. Following which, I have officially started my summer vacation. YAY! It looks like I received an "A" in the class and my professor encouraged me to pursue formal writing. I'm flattered but I don't think I'll be doing that unless I need it for my teaching degree.

Good grief this is a long post. Ah, well.

  1. Well dear one, maybe not formal writting, but keep writting or bloging. It reminds me of the "Blue Book", but this is all yours. I'm gload to see God can use you in this way.
