Because I deserve it.
Today, Alex and I met up with some friends and their kiddos for a day at the beach. The weather was great. The company was better.
All in all, besides the creepy "Grandpa" strolling around looking for a woman to talk to, our time together could not have gone better.
Alex loved the water and loves his tractor floaty.
When he began to get cranky, I packed up his things and got him ready to go home for his nap. After loading up my car, we drove off toward home. I figured at some point he would fall asleep.
I couldn't help but smile when I looked back in my rear view mirror about 2 minutes after pulling out of my parking spot. Alex was out like a light. He fell right into a deep sleep and looked so peaceful.
I love watching my little guy sleep.
I decided on the way home that I wanted some ice cream. I had been in the sun all morning, was tired, and needing a pick-me-up. Since Alex was sleeping soundly, I pulled into the DQ drive-thru and bought myself a blizzard.
I felt so sneaky. For a second, I even felt guilty knowing that I splurged for myself and did not intend to share with Alex.
....
Oh, well. I got over it pretty quickly. :)
At home, I carried Alex out of the car and got him ready for his nap. He went right back to sleep.
YES!
I sat. I put my feet up. I turned on Style network. I ate my Reese's peanut butter blizzard. I enjoyed every bite.
When a Mom takes all the time and effort to pack up a child for a day at the beach, uses that same effort to meet their child's every need all day, and takes care of everything after arriving home ....she deserves a stinkin' blizzard all to herself. :)
