Ah, The Budding Artist

I'm not the only Mom to have a busy toddler. Since I know this, I know you'll understand exactly how quickly a child can move when they're "in the zone".

Last night, Alex was definitely in his "zone" as he ran around the house like crazy. I don't know what got into him. All I know is he struck out of nowhere.

I was in my bathroom getting ready to go out to the Tigers baseball game. Usually, Alex plays in his room or in the living room with toys and really doesn't bother me except to check in every now and then. All I can say to what happened last night is, "There went 'the norm' right out the window."

Alex ran into my bathroom in a flash. I heard him rubbing on something as I was putting on my mascara. As quickly as I could, I turned to see what he was up to. What did I see?

This isn't the best quality photo but it's the best I could do.  Alex had drawn all over the toilet lid.
I can't say I blame him. It is rather boring to look at. If I were a toddler with a crayon, I would think to use it as my canvas too.
Thank heavens for the Magic Eraser.

  1. Yes, magic eraser is a huge friend! When I discovered it I was able to erase about three years of artistry from my daughter who is now 7.

  2. I think you should sell it on eBay as an up-and-coming artist's debut.

Also, I am sad that I didn't make your list of blogs you read. I will try to do a better job to capture you attention. :)

  8. Magic Eraser really needs to do a commercial with Moms saving walls, doors, cabinets, tables, toilet seats, with their product. We always have them on hand here, too!

What a cool mom you are; I love your perspective on this. Hopefully, you'll have the same attitude when he does it on the wall :)

  10. I'm sorry but I giggled to myself as I read this b/c I had the same experience with my 3 yr old twins yesterday! They colored all over my family room wall with permanent marker!!!! Thank God for the magic eraser!!!! And I'm comforted in knowing that my kids are not the only ones who are tempted to stray from paper when it comes to coloring. I guess we should just be happy that they are creative, right?

  14. Well, at least he didn't draw INside the toilet, which is something my son would have probably done! :)

  16. My toddler is forbidden from the bathroom (except when necessary) because this is exactly the kind of thing he would do. He's fascinated by plungers and toilet scrubbers too (yuck!)

  19. I'm not sure what I did before Magic Eraser. And boy my children have drawn on so many things with crayons, but not the toilet.

Guess I'll just wait a few weeks and they'll hit that, too!

    Creative child you have there!
