Endometri-OW-sis

I suffer from endometriosis. If you're not sure what that is, you can click here for more info.

From time to time, I have a day when I can't move from the pain I'm in. Even when I'm perfectly still, the pain is still excruciating.

Last night was one of those times. It was officially time to go to bed and I was having discomfort as I headed to the bedroom. It wasn't anything major, just a lot of pressure. When I got into bed, however, it was a totally different ball game. The pain would not relent. For 2 hours straight I lay there with waves upon waves of shooting pain.

What can I do about this? Well, my Dr. says that birth control and Perscription strength Motrin are the only things that will help me short of surgery. AND, if I had surgery, that wouldn't cure my endometriosis. It would only "clean it up" so it could come back and taunt me another time.

This isn't a "wah, wah, wah" post at all. It's just an "as a matter of fact" post that I'm writing so I can vent.

For me, this is life and I've got to get through it. I'm thankful, more than anything, that God will be with me and strengthen me.

If, for some reason, you're thinking about me, please say a little prayer. I would greatly appreciate it.

  1. Hi Amy!

I've had two laparoscopy surgeries over the years (the kind used to treat endo) though never had endometriosis be the final diagnosis. I know people have been helped after the procedure but also understand that it's frustrating when you know it's going to come back. =( Thinking of you.

  3. Hi Amy,

I'm totally new to your blog and felt immediate sympathy after reading this post! I've was diagnosed with endo when I was 15 and know how life-altering the pain can be. I did have the surgery and it did help a bit, along with a few other things. If you want to talk more about it, you can email me - laurenlhorsley@yahoo.com. Hang in there!

  4. Thank you for writing this. I know that talking about stuff like this isn't your favorite thing to do.

If you want one of my ovaries, I think I have a spare.

  9. ouch, I hear you loud and clear! I also have this, always wondered what was up. They thought I had fibroids and were going to do a hysto but MRI came back with this instead. I was on birth control for many years, got off it when Deja was born as I had tubes tied. They gave me a depo shot this past June, first month was great, then I bled for 2 months straight! And now, nothing for several months even though I never went back for 2nd depo shot. So am waiting for my monthly to come back-with a vengeance. I will be having nova sure done to clear up lining during layoff this spring-and the pain has gotten so bad at times I have had vicodin as prescription. Take care, I really know how it is for you-I am living with it, and have good days...and bad. Thinking of you...

  12. My cousin has this, and it's painful for her too. The worst part for her is that in her case, she can't have children. I'm hoping that you are feeling ok!
