Skinit (review and giveaway)

Since Alex was born, I've used snapfish to print out pictures to share with my family members. I've always been very impressed by the quality of my prints and wouldn't even consider going to a store for digital prints after even my first experience with snapfish

Snapfish also offers a large line of customizable gifts including mugs, clothing, and even more. One of my favorite, new ideas comes from a company called Skinit. Snapfish and Skinit partnered up and offer customizable photo skins for everything from your iPod to your laptop.

When I first heard of this, I was excited but skeptical. I wondered how durable the skins were and if they would bubble after applying them to whatever I chose to skin. I then received 2 skinit samples to look at. One was placed on an old Treo phone and the other was made to stick on a laptop cover. I was very impressed with both styles. The Treo Skinit fit perfectly. There were no bubbles or loose edges. The laptop Skinit was also thick and the picture was crystal clear. (I expected it would be grainy or pixelated with the enlargement.) The photo was so clear, in fact, my camera detected the face of the little boy.

*the crease you see is from the skin's backing being folded. the skinit itself would go on flat, if I had actually stuck it to my laptop.*

There are more great examples on the website to give you ideas of how other skins would look.

On another note, I'd like to tell you about the HP Creative Studio.  This is a neat website where you can add frames to your photos, make cards, photo books, calenders, and even a business pack all for free. You design what you want and then send it to the printer. It's that easy.  Here's something I created on the website to give you one idea:

Now for the fun part:

  17. I have purchased most of the Snapfish picture gifts in years past. However, I was taken aback by the recordable cards. I've seen these in the stores before, but never with your own pictures! I have family all over the country, this is the perfect way to connect with them on a very personal level. I am going to tell my sister about these so she can have my nephew send these out with his message too!

  41. I've always used Snapfish too. Love them for unique gift items. Last year I gave each of my nephews playing cards with a photo of them participating in their favorite activity. Made for a great stocking stuffer and the kids loved them! But what I would love to try is the large puzzle. I'd like to put it together, glue it all down and then frame it.
