IL Divo: The Promise (Review and Giveaway)

You may not think me to be an "opera" kind of girl. Well, surprise! I'm a lover of all types of music.

When I was offered the opportunity to review Il Divo's The Promise AND The Christmas Collection, I jumped all over it. That's right. I jumped.

I cracked them open right away and started listening.

The Promise

First of all, if you've never listened to Il Divo, you should go check them out. These men are TALENTED vocalists.

Now, this album is something that I would listen to for a de-stress time. It's beautiful and melodic. There's also a beautiful cover of the song "Hallelujah" on the album. (any Jeff Buckley fans out there?) This album is loaded with beautiful songs that provoke emotion whether you speak the language it's being sung in or not.

A Christmas Collection

This album makes me wish I had a fireplace in my home. I can totally picture myself sitting in front of the fire with a warm mug of hot chocolate (don't forget the candy cane) while being surrounded by my Christmas decor and the sound of this album being played. Il Divo performs beautiful renditions of my favorite songs and puts me right in the Christmas mood. I even listened to it as I made my first batch of Christmas cookies. :)

The Giveaway

  1. I have used their music in my classroom, but never knew much about them. This is what I found while reading "About Il Divo."
"Two sold out world tours have seen them performing to over 1.5 million people in thirty countries." That's amazing for 4 guys who were just "put" together. I would love to win these! Thanks for the giveaway.

  2. I've been a fan of them since Simon Cowell introduced them on Oprah! So what i found interesting on their website was this:

Their first three albums, 'Il Divo', 'Ancora' and 'Siempre' scored 36 number 1 chart positions across 26 countries. Pretty impressive!!

  3. i liked when Carlos said, "It doesn't matter who sings the melody and who sings the harmony, it feels like a big wave, a tsunami is arriving. It's amazing, the feeling, its so powerful, even when I am on stage with the other guys singing, I still get goosebumps."

    what a humble comment!

  8. I read that Il Divo were initially brought together by pop impresario Simon Cowell in 2004!! I thought they had been around longer, I think they're great.

  11. I checked out their upcoming tour stops. In the first part of 2009 the group is only going to a few US cities, and nowhere remotely close to me. Disappointing!

  18. If Carlos wasn't a singer, he'd be a producer for other singers. I love Il Divo, but I don't own anything by them yet.
