SodaStream Review (Giveaway Closed)

Here’s a wonderful gift idea for any friend or family member. The SodaStream is an eco-friendly gift that also eliminates some of the expense of buying soda or sparkling water in the stores. It also comes with bottles that can be used and re-used over and over again. This is a system that is powered by carbonation only. There’s nothing to plug in.
Here’s the drink maker I chose for review.

With the “Stream” drink maker came a carbonator and 2 bottles to make soda in.  I was also sent many different flavors of syrup. *The flavors have no high fructose corn syrup in them.* These flavors are:
  • Diet Cola
  • Cola
  • My Water (comes with orange, berry, and lemon-lime flavoring for carbonated water.)
  • Cranberry Raspberry
  • Lemon-Lime
  • Orange
  • Energy
  • Diet Pink Grapefruit
  • Root beer
  • Diet Ginger Ale
  • Cream Soda
We haven’t tried all the flavors yet, but I really like the Cream Soda and Orange syrups while the hubster prefers the Diet Cola and Cream Soda. He also tried the energy drink and thought it had a little too much of a bite for his liking. However, we both agree that someone like my little brother, who drinks energy drinks all the time, would probably like it. The hubster just doesn’t drink energy drinks at all.
The system is super easy to use, but I’ll warn you now…read and follow the directions. I made a huge mess the first time I used it because I only read the instructions on how to carbonate the water. I figured for the syrup that I just needed to measure it and pour it into the bottle of carbonated water. I was VERY wrong. It actually was quite funny but I won’t go into details on how that all panned out. Just note, there was a LOT of laughter on my part.
There are several other flavors than the ones that were sent to me and several other drink makers that will suit different tastes and personalities. I personally think this is a fantastic gift and after figuring out how much money we’ll save making our own soda at home, I know this will be something we keep around and use for some time to come.
Buy It: You can buy a Starter Kit (syrups sold separately) for anywhere from $99.99 to $199.99  depending on which style you choose. Syrups cost around $4-$5 depending on the flavor and the My Water flavors sell for $9.99 on the Sodastream website.

SodaStream has offered an amazing prize for one winner. One person will win a Fountain Jet Soda Lover's Start-Up Kit (approx. $100 retail value.) It includes the winner's choice of black/silver, white, or red/silver Fountain Jet, CO2 to make over 100 liters of soda, 2 reusable carbonating bottles, a sample pack of flavors, and 3 full-sized flavors of the winner's choice. WOW!!! **Open to US and Canada**
