pricepfister
I live in a cozy condo that I’ve been working to make a “home” little by little. By that, I mean I’ve been looking for little touches here and there that make it mine and unique rather than generic.
I have dreams of gutting out my kitchen and completely remodeling it but that’s something that’s on the back burner considering the newborn little girl who has just arrived and needs many things that are more important than the kitchen makeover in my dreams.
However, I still look for little ways to “change it up” a bit and make it more “me”. That’s why I was so excited when I was given the opportunity to review a kitchen faucet from Price Pfister to help dress things up a bit in my kitchen.
Here’s my before picture:
IMG_0261
It’s not too cute, is it? If you ask me, it looks like the “standard” kitchen faucet that would be found in any other condo or apartment. There’s nothing fancy about it and I’ve often complained that there was no room underneath it to fill a big pot or clean out something like a crock-pot.
I was given the choice of a few different kitchen faucets from Price Pfister and decided to go with the Cadenza. This style has a European flair to it. It’s meant for a 4 hole sink, has a high-arc faucet, and has a side spray and a soap dispenser. Of the 2 finishes available (bronze or steel), I went with the steel to match my stainless steel sink.
Here’s what my sink looks like now:
IMG_0263IMG_0262
Since my sink only has 3 holes, we chose to leave the soap pump off for now until we’re able to upgrade it.
I can tell you honestly that I LOVE this faucet. The style and look of it is wonderful and it has made doing dishes, filling up the coffee brewer, and even giving little Eliana her first sponge baths very easy. The faucet itself pivots easily from side to side which will be great to have whenever I’m able to get that double sink I’ve been wanting to add. The sprayer is also great to have. It’s so helpful for giving the sink a quick rinse down after washing off dirty dishes or cleaning out the coffee filter.
Also, the hubster (who isn’t schooled in anything to do with plumbing) had very little trouble installing the faucet. The instructions that came in the box were simple to follow and the entire process took a lot less time than he had anticipated.
The quality and style of the Cadenza faucet from Price Pfister is top-of-the-line in my book. I would recommend this brand to anyone in the market for a new faucet for their kitchen or bath.
BUY IT: You can purchase the Cadenza faucet for around $200 depending on the retailer you purchase it from. Click HERE to see a list of locations.

leapfrog
zippity
With a busy toddler boy who is soaking up the world around him and learning new things every day, I’m always looking for new ideas to encourage his learning while making it fun. Leap Frog is a company I know I can count on to build upon his learning and open up new avenues of ideas for him.
We were recently sent the Zippity Learning System for review. This is one of the newest items CIMG0377available from Leap Frog just in time for the holiday season. (It’s most fitting for children ages 3-5.) Disney and Leap Frog teamed up to create a fun, interactive, learning system and I think they did a fantastic job. There are 8 games included with the system in 2 different levels of difficulty. The games are lead by characters from favorite Disney shows like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Little Einsteins, and My friends Tigger & Pooh.
zippity1
Of course, when this arrived, Alex couldn’t wait to try it out. He had never played any sort of “video game” before so he wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. (I think he was expecting it to play some videos or something.) I helped him set up the game and explained to him how to play. Later on, he played with it again when the hubster came home from work. I realize, my son isn’t 3 years old yet and this made the game play a little more challenging, but he’s able to play pretty independently now and really enjoys it.
I love watching Alex play his games. He really enjoys guiding Rocket on the Little Einsteins game and also loves helping Handy Manny fix things. To see the smile on his face while he’s playing is priceless. This game is not only something that Alex can enjoy over the next couple years as he grows and develops, but it’s also something that Eliana will be able to play when she’s old enough to enjoy it too.
I’m also a big fan of the Learning Path Leap Frog offers with its educational electronics. The Learning Path allows parents to see how their child is progressing with the Leap Frog item they’re using. It also offers suggestions on how parents can expand their child’s learning even further. What a wonderful tool to have! Click HERE to see a demo.
There are additional games for the Zippity that are sold separately. I’m considering purchasing the Zippity Learning Game: Cars for Alex this Christmas. I just know he would love it.
BUY IT! You can purchase the Zippity Learning System for $79.99 from Leap Frog. **Pssst…right now, they’re offering free shipping on the system or compatible games and HERE is where you can get a $5 off coupon.

gogosqueez If you’re a parent, you know how hectic life can be with outings, school, play dates, gatherings, and so on. While you’re out and about, your little one/ones are more than likely going to ask you for a snack. (I know my toddler is ALWAYS wanting something to munch on.) It’s easy to grab any old snack to throw in your purse or diaper bag, but have you ever wished there was a healthier solution to snacking on-the-go?gogosqueez2

GoGo squeeZ is the perfect solution. It’s portable, mess-proof, re-sealable, sugar free, Kosher certified, and made of 100% fruit.   The packaging is fun and appealing to little ones but it was originally designed for use by NASA astronauts. What is it? Well, it’s applesauce at it’s finest (in my humble opinion, of course).

gogosqueez1GoGo squeeZ comes in 5 different flavors: apple apple, apple peach, apple strawberry, apple cinnamon, and apple banana. I’ve tried apple peach and apple strawberry and Alex (my toddler son) has tried apple cinnamon and apple apple. Alex wanted more as soon as he finished one pack and has been asking to have one as a snack almost every day since our box of samples arrived. It’s his new favorite snack and it’s something I don’t mind him having at all since it’s healthy and sugar free.

 gogosqueez3

Personally, I really enjoy snacking on a GoGo squeeZ every now and then as well. It’s a great snack that’s light on the tummy but satisfying at the same time.

Also, it’s great to know that eating one pouch is equal to eating one fruit serving for the day.  I think this is very helpful since my son has a sensitive stomach and I have to keep an eye on his portions throughout the day to keep him from getting a stomach ache. Since the serving size is so clearly defined, I don’t have to study its Nutrition Facts to figure out how much he’s eating.

Here’s a bit of information about the company’s origin taken from its website:

Story has it that in the 19th century, a very loving grandfather was determined to craft a special snack for his grandson. Using delicious apples from his backyard orchard in the Val De Loire region of France, near the Chateau Chambord, Monsieur Materne created a delicious and simple applesauce. The Materne company was born and would go on to become the most popular applesauce company in France.

Known as Materne Pom’potes in France, the brand has become the favorite fruit snack of children with more than 1 billion pouches consumed to date.

Materne GoGo squeeZ was launched in the US in June 2008 to offer American families the opportunity to enjoy our no spoon, no mess, all natural squeezable applesauce when on the go! Each pouch contains the equivalent of one fruit serving and supports our mission to American consumers: Helping parents feed their kids better foods when they are on the go!

I’d like to also mention that these snacks are found in many a McDonald’s Happy Meal across Europe. I would love to  see them offered at my local McDonald’s as an option someday soon. That’s why I’m proud to stand behind this company as a mom and help spread the word.

Buy It: You can purchase GoGo squeeZ at several locations in New York and New Jersey OR you can purchase packs online at Amazon.com and Mybrands.com. (4-packs cost around $2.99 each)

THE GIVEAWAY!!

GoGo squeeZ has generously offered five 4-packs of applesauce (one of each flavor) to one winner. **This is a very tasty prize!!**

Recently released and currently playing on my iPod, Give Up the Ghost by Brandy Carlile is well worth a listen. (Just check out the new single on iTunes above.)

This album is the perfect choice for any folk/rock lover. I prefer the feel and sound of a folk album so I’ve really enjoyed reviewing “Give Up The Ghost”. My favorite track so far is entitled “Dying Day”. It’s an upbeat, catchy tune with a great melody. I honestly listen to it over and over while I be-bop around and sing along.

Other tracks on this album are:give_up_the_ghost
Looking Out
Dying Day
Pride And Joy
Dreams
That Year
Caroline
Before It Breaks
I Will
If There Was No You
Touching The Ground
Oh Dear

If you like the sound of Sheryl Crow, Missy Higgins, or the Inidigo Girls, Brandi Carlile is someone that will fit perfectly in your CD/MP3 collection.
