When we arrived, the theater was absolutely packed for the screening and people were being turned away at the door. {They tried to send me away too but I assured them that I had a couple seats waiting for me.} Those who were there quickly made their way to their seats and we watched a couple previews.
Before the movie started, we saw a new Toy Story Toons short {Hawaiian Vacation} that was a big hit with the crowd. Everyone seemed to like it and Alex was surprised to see his buddies Buzz and Woody the same night he was going to see Lightning McQueen and Mater. Here's a sneak peek pic for you.
Finally, CARS 2 began and Alex started calling out all the names of the cars he knew. It was pretty cute to hear him saying "Hi" to them. And after a bit of time catching up from where we left off with the first movie, it was time to get the story moving.
Now, I don't want to ruin anything for you so I won't share a lot of the details. I can tell you, though, that CARS 2 is the equivalent of CARS meets James Bond. There are so many twists and turns in the plot and a lot of action. Alex and I were on the edge of our seats and enjoyed every second of it.
My fear was that since my son is only 4 that the "good guys vs. bad guys" bit would be a bit too much for him but I was wrong. Alex loved watching them go back and forth and I think the levity in the movie helped to keep it from getting too tense. {There are plenty of laughable moments.}
I think the safest way to describe the film to you is to share a clip with you.
This movie is a must-see for any CARS fan. I even recommended to my dad that he go see it. I know he would enjoy it. OH! And if you are {or are bringing with you} a fan of CARS, please try and see this movie while it's in 3D. You won't regret it. All I can say is that it is just too cool to miss out on. I'm already trying to talk the hubster into taking Alex to see the movie again while it's in 3D since he wasn't able to make the screening with us.
Alex is already counting down the days for this movie to be on DVD but he understands that he has to wait a bit because "EVERYBODY wants to see the movie in the theater". {giggle}
Alright, enough of you reading about it here, get out and go see it!
**This is a buddy picks review. It's gets two thumbs up from Alex.
