I was recently selected to be a part of the Dr. Scholl's blog tour with Mom Central. Initially, I thought the hubster would be doing this review as he has flat feet and needs inserts. However, he preferred that I go ahead and try them out and I'll tell you...I'm really glad he did.
I headed out to my local pharmacy to try out the foot map analysis from Dr. Scholl's and see what kind of inserts they recommended for me.
It was really easy to use. I just stepped up, followed the screen prompts and revealed this result.
As you can see, they suggested the 110 which is the smallest amount of correction. However, since I have high arches in my feet, I figured that I would try them out and see how I feel about them.
When I received my orthotic inserts, I was impressed with the packaging but even more impressed when I observed the way the inserts are made.
Each insert is made specific to the contours of each foot and they're clearly marked whether they're for the right or left foot. The gray area on the insert is firm and acts as a support for the arch of the feet where the yellow areas are more pliable and cushioned.
Now, these inserts are made to fit into the back of the shoe and don't extend all the way to the toes. I feel like mine fit to the balls of my feet but it's going to be different depending on the shoe size, and foot of each individual using Dr. Scholl's Orthotic Inserts.
As part of this campaign, I was told to try them out for a week and let you know what I think about them. Well, first off, these aren't going to fit into every shoe. For example, I have some flats that they fit in but other flats become too wide and uncomfortable if I use the inserts. I decided to keep them in my tennis shoes and do a lot of walking in them before sharing my thoughts.
I noticed a marked difference in the comfort of my shoes right away using the orthotic inserts. My greatest issues come from having high arches in my feet. If my shoes can't support my high arches, my feet hurt and that pain reaches up to my back as my body tries to "correct" my stride to avoid further pain. The Dr. Scholl's orthotic inserts gave my foot great support and I have had no issues with aching feet or pain in my back.
When my son and I did the walk-athon at the zoo last weekend, we walked over 2 miles {including the sidetracks to see animals}. It was hot and I was tired but I had no discomfort at all and I know that's because I was using the orthotic inserts.
Even if you don't feel like you need inserts in your shoes, you may be surprised to find that these really do make a difference. Go visit your local Dr. Scholl's stand {I found mine at Meijer} and see what inserts you need. They cost only $50 which is a steal in comparison to other inserts.
Also, there's a rebate available should you choose to give them a shot. By visiting the link, you can receive a $7.50 rebate on your purchase.
