If I can be honest, the subject of "back to school" doesn't always get the most positive reaction in this home. My kiddos just don't want to talk about an end to summer. But. I want to turn it into a positive thing for them as much as I can. So the other day I sat down with each of them and asked them a question.
"What are your goals for school this year?"
My son is going into 5th grade. His answer? "If I could do anything, I would do less math and more time learning things like history and science. I want to learn more stories about the past and ways to help people."
My boy has always loved history but I find it so endearing to hear him say he wants to help others in the future. What a heart he has.
As he steps into his school year, he's so excited with the outfit he chose from Gymboree.
Sweater: Marled Navy Sweater Jacket
T-shirt: Totally Teal Radical Tee
Pants: The Everywhere Pant - Dove Grey
Shoes: Boys High Top Sneakers
I next sat down with my 2nd born girlie and asked her the same question. She answered me. "Mom, I want to do science, science, science, and then sports."
My girlie is learning to love athletics as she started taking gymnastics not too long ago. I've been by her side as she's figuring out that it's ok to grow up and not enjoy princesses as much anymore. I've encouraged her as she's ok with pink but prefers pants.
Gymboree had many choices for her that fit her style and personality perfectly.
This zip up hoodie with thumb holes is her favorite. It has moisture wicking to keep her comfortable as she bends and flips and even rides her bike. And that tunic top? The sequins make a diamond and say "Shine On" when she flips the sequins over.
Her choices from Gymboree are:
Hat: Rocket Pink Eye Cap
Pony Holder: Gymgo Pony Holder in Action Pink
Hoodie: Action Pink Gymgo Active Hoodie
Tunic: Rocket Pink Diamond Tunic
Leggings: Black Starburst Leggings
Shoes: Sparkle Sneakers in Black Sparkle
My youngest starts Kindergarten. Her goals? "I want a school BFF. I want to do a lot of art. A LOT. I want to have fun but I really, really, really just want to graduate."
Well, my dear, that's a pretty good goal. This is from the girl who thought all of our preparation for going to preschool was literally for one day. She believed the first day of preschool was also the last day. Check that box, she was done. My youngest is overflowing in enthusiasm and joy for life. She has a big spirit about her and I'm sure she's going to do big things.
Her favorite color is rainbow and her favorite art supply is glitter. This girl is all about the sparkle.
She has some colorful and "ready for play" pieces from Gymboree.
Pony Holder: Gymgo Pony Holder in Bright Geo
Tunic: Night Navy Constellation Dress
Cardigan: Sparkle Cardigan in Navy
Leggings: Galaxy Print Leggings
Shoes: Sparkle Sneakers in Rainbow Glitter
What you couldn't see in my son's outfit? The sock game, yo. He was wearing his Legend Status socks, which are a bit small on him. But I think it's so amazing how the other 2 pair match his outfit just as well. They are the Striped Socks in Heather Grey Strip and the Hot Dog Socks.
Let's take a closer look at the shoes! They're kind of hard to see in the pictures so here you can see their detail a bit better.
Alex's were the Boys High Top Sneakers. I think the design on these is so classy but also perfect for an active boy. I told him their pretty much like "dress up sneakers". (I don't know if your boy is like mine but he hates to dress up.) He is really very impressed by them and he thinks he looks cool. I agree. :)
Pardon the bit of dirt these picked up before I had a chance to photograph them. These are the Sparkle Sneakers in Rainbow Glitter. My youngest is over the moon excited to have these shoes. I'm over the moon that glitter shoes don't mean glitter all over my floor. We haven't had any shedding issues.
And finally, here are the Sparkle Sneakers in Black Sparkle. My middle girl adores them. They help her embrace her new found edgy side while still keeping it sparkly like she still enjoys. She's a pretty reserved girl but these help her share all the light she has within her. She holds her head up a bit more when she puts them on.
Alright, get yourself over to Gymboree and get your Back to School shopping on! Also, we're friends on Instagram, right? **I'll be hosting a giveaway over there!** Get your follow on and watch for the post.
What style clothes do your kids prefer to wear? Are they all different like mine? What are their #kidgoals for the next school year? {Let's chat in the comments!}
