It's That Time of Year Again

I know there are kiddos everywhere who have started or are starting back to school.  I'm thankful that Alex still has a few years until I have to think about all of the joy and tears that go along with the school daze.

However, tonight is a big night for me as I pack up my things and head off to class. I've been slowly working on taking classes to complete my degree in early childhood education. I was going at a pretty good pace until I found out I was pregnant with Alex. After this news, I realized that I no longer need to worry about working full time and taking classes. I now had a brand new, ever changing, obstacle to my schooling.

I don't mean to sound bitter. I LOVE my little guy. But, if I can be honest with you, school has been difficult to figure in to the role of stay-at-home-mom. I have been taking my classes online since Alex was born. It just makes more sense to take the classes from the comfort of my own home when life isn't predictable. This semester, though, that option wasn't really an option as many of the classes I have left to take are only available on campus.

I decided to take the on-campus classes and save the online classes for the winter semester. No matter what, I'm determined to complete my degree.

Wish me luck as I head into a classroom filled with giggling 18 year olds and the "more experienced than thou."

  1. Good luck Amy. I'm sure it'll be a different environment than it was. Glad you are determined to finish it. You'll thank yourself someday and proud too.

Again, take it easy and take care.

  2. Good luck! I, too, am dealing with the school thing. I sent my youngest off to all-day kindergarten last week and on the same day, applied for admission into the local university. Not one to pass up a well-thought-out plan ;!

Ever since getting accepted, I have been having one obstacle after the next and am not sure what I want to do any more. I feel so torn. I really do have the time RIGHT NOW. I kind of also want some time to breathe.

I applaud your dedication and wish you luck this semester.

  4. You'll do great Amy! COngratulations on your commitment to finish your degree. I often tell my students that pursuing their college education isn't just about the book knowledge you gain, but the personal growth you gain from having to stick with something that isn't always easy to stick to! :)
