As a proud, Frigidaire Test Drive Mom, I've been informed of the latest campaign from Frigidaire and Jennifer Garner. I've also been invited to be part of it by inviting Alex to cook with me using my very own range that I was sent for review almost a year ago.

Here's the scoop, if you visit Frigidaire.com, you'll see a link to the Frigidaire Kids' Cooking Academy through Make Time For Change. Should you choose to click that link, you'll be taken to its website and invited to join {for free}. There, you'll find daily tips, recipes, and video tutorials from Chef Mary Sue Milliken.

For every person who joins, Frigidaire will be donating $1 to Save The Children. Also, just for joining, you'll be entered to win the daily prize, a kids' apron set, and a new Frigidaire Double Oven Range {that's a SUPER grand prize, no?}

I think this is a wonderful way to get kids in the kitchen and get healthy food to children in need at the same time!

Of course, if I'm going to take part in this campaign, I have to get my hands dirty and let you know how my own Frigidaire range helped me bring my son into the kitchen to make a healthy meal.

I was given money to spend before the campaign started so I found a healthy recipe from my girl Rachael Ray. {She has no clue who I am, by the way.} I chose to make Stuffing-Seasoned Chicken Cutlets with Pear Sauce and a side of Sweet Potato Oven Fries. YUM, right?  {search the recipes by name on her site if you'd like to try this yourself.}

I don't recommend doing anything without a cup of coffee first. I had my cup and brought Alex into the kitchen to help me make dinner.

We started by getting the organic, Japanese sweet potatoes ready. I cut them into wedges and let Alex place them on the baking sheet. We topped them with extra virgin olive oil and a sprinkle of grill seasoning and popped them in the oven. What was so helpful, of course, was the fact that my oven was warmed up in 6 minutes and waiting for me to be ready to use it.

With the sweet potatoes baking away, we started getting our organic chicken cutlets ready. I butterfly cut the chicken breasts myself and Alex couldn't wait to help me flatten them a bit.

Next, we dredged the cutlets in flour, covered them in the egg and dijon mustard mixture, then breaded them with the ground up stuffing. Alex liked dipping the chicken in each dish. Then, I had to ask Alex to step back while I grilled the chicken on my stove top, two pieces at a time.

Now, if you'll remember, I was using my oven to bake the fries so I couldn't exactly put the chicken in there to keep it warm. {Although, there was plenty of room for the chicken should I have wanted to put it in.} My solution was simple, I set my warming drawer on the bottom of my range to medium heat and simply placed the chicken in the drawer piece by piece as I continued grilling.

This kept my chicken warm while I moved on from grilling to make the pear sauce. On this last step, what should have only taken me 10 minutes took me about 30-40 minutes. I had to peel and dice the pears {I forgot to earlier} and then I had to simmer them in sugar and water until they became soft and the sauce became thick.

And here's the finished product!

On my own, this meal would have been a real "project" for me but it became twice as much with Alex in the kitchen. Don't get me wrong, I loved having him there to help me out. Honestly, though. Without my Frigidaire range boasting its Powerplus Preheat feature and warming drawer, half of my dinner would have been served cold while we continued to wait for the fries to be done due to the oven taking forever to warm up.

Please make sure to visit Frigidaire's website for more information on how you can bring your kids into the kitchen to make healthy meals. You could win a Frigidaire Double Oven Range which is double the fun of what I have! Anyone would be lucky to own one.

I've got to tell you. The past few months I've spent with my new Frigidaire Range have been so nice. I truly have been spoiled to be able to have something so top-of-the-line.

There is so much room inside the oven. I just love the way I can move and even change the racks to fit an entire feast inside if need be. And for the items that are finished but need to stay warm until the food is served, I can just pop them in the warming drawer and set the temperature at Low, Medium, or High.
The surfaces on the stove are so easy to wipe down. I used to scrub and scrub my old range and still I couldn't get rid of the mess. Now it's honestly a breeze. By using everyday cleaners and a tiny bit of elbow grease, I can get the stove top and the inside of the oven wiped up with no problem at all. And don't even get me started on the stainless steel with the protective coating. Not once have I had to wipe off grubby fingerprints.

We're planning on updating our kitchen soon and I'm excited to have a look in the kitchen that is deserving of such a beautiful range.

Really and truly, this new range has made my life so much easier and has saved me so much time. And do you know what I do with the time I have left over? I take a breath and enjoy some time to myself or more time with my kiddos. I love it.

My Frigidaire Range ~ Wrap Up Post

While I've been testing out my new appliances from Frigidaire, I've found something that I truly adore about my Over the Range Microwave. "What's that?" you ask. Oh, my friend, let me tell you all about it.

On the microwave is this neat little button that is named "melt soften". In one button, a lot of time and frustration is saved when it comes to my little world of baking. Yes, it's true. I love to bake. (I just don't talk about it much here because I don't do it all that often.) Now, when a recipe calls for softened cream cheese, melted butter, melted chocolate, or softened ice cream, I can have that ready at the touch of a button and done in a couple minutes.

On my old microwave, my options were extremely limited. This meant that I did A LOT of guessing with times/power settings and mostly did it all wrong. My melted objects would be boiling over and cooked to the sides of the dish and my softened items would be melted. It was a terrible mess...always.

I want you to see the beauty of how easy this button is to use and understand exactly how it helps to make life easier, so I put together a video for you.

There are even more neat features on both my range and over the range microwave from Frigidaire. I'll be sure to share them with ya so stick around to hear all about it.

My Frigidaire Microwave ~ A Neat Feature

I've been enjoying my new Frigidaire range and want to tell you about one of its fantastic features. The magic lies behind this one, single button.

On my Frigidaire Gallery 30" Freestanding Gas Range, there is a panel of options; buttons just waiting to be pushed and put to use. I decided to try the Powerplus Preheat button while I put together some cookie dough not too long ago. I figured it was worth trying out if it was going to warm up my oven faster than my old range.

On the range that used to live in my kitchen, I would have to wait 30 minutes plus for the approximate (and I use that term loosely) temperature I desired to be reached. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting from my new range in terms of performance but I have to tell you how amazed I was by what happened after I pushed the "Powerplus Preheat" button.

Naturally, I set the temperature I needed the oven to be at for my cookies and then went off to work on the cookie dough. I had barely begun putting my cookie dough together when I heard a beep from my range. "What was that?" I wondered. I went to check on it and guess what I found? In only 6 minutes my oven had warmed up to 350 degrees. Yes, you read that right. Isn't it amazing?

Now, I have a new favorite button to push when using my range. I love the fact that my oven is warmed up and waiting for me to be ready to use it rather than the days when I sat around waiting for the oven to warm up.

Yes, indeed. My new range and I are getting along famously well. I'll be back to tell you more about it very soon.

My Frigidaire Range ~ A Favorite Feature

I've been enjoying and falling crazy in love with my new range and over the range microwave from Frigidaire. (Just for the record, falling in love with an appliance is completely legal.) From having more space, to enjoying the ease of use for faster results, and more, I have A LOT to fill you in on with this range.

I'd like to begin with the "wow" factor, though. So, I'll show you what a difference it's made in my own, humble home. Here's "Before".

Please try not to be too shocked with the before. I do have an explanation for that. When we received the measurements for the over the range microwave, we wanted to make sure it was flush with the bottom of the cabinet next to it after installation. So, we took the original hood off and had someone alter the size of the cabinet for us. I just forgot to get a picture of the hood before it was gone.

Anyway, do you see how crowded that counter is next to the original range? That small area makes a big difference in my kitchen as the other counter tops are pretty well occupied with canisters and small appliances. Also, it was very hard to do any prep work on that little counter for meals.

Sheesh...what a mess. Thank goodness for the "after". Allow me to introduce you to my

Frigidaire Gallery Premier Collection 1.8 Cu. Ft. Over-The-Range Microwave and Frigidaire Gallery 30" Freestanding Gas Range.

Ah, now that looks good. Right? What's that? Oh! You want to know about that extra counter space. Here, have a look-see for yourself.

Like I said earlier, I have a few fun things to show you about these items and I'll be doing that over the next couple of months. Hopefully, you'll find that you get to know these items very well as I learn them and share what I know. So far, I can say for certain, the protective coating on the stainless steel is awesome. I've not had to wipe off any finger prints yet. I feel so spoiled. :)

Check out the good looking pair that is waiting to come to my home and dress up my kitchen.

So, what do I plan to do with these? These two items have some very unique features on them and I will show you all I can about them with videos and photos.
