During the Blissdom Conference held in Nashville, TN, Kellogg's launched their Share Your Breakfast program while sharing information about it with a group of bloggers. Luckily, I sat in on that meeting and heard about it first hand. I'm very excited and passionate about this and hope you'll join me every day to make a difference.

Did you know 1 in 4 children live in food insecure households? That means 1 in 4 children don't know where there next meal is coming from. To even type those words and let that truth sink in is haunting to me. Is it possible that I take my meals for granted? And if I do, how can I change that and make a difference?

I admit I have grown far too comfortable with the assurance that my home is not a home in need and food is available at any time during the day. I don't want my children to grow to be so comfortable, though. I want them to see what's on the opposite end of the spectrum. Joining hands and hearts with Kellogg's and its Share Your Breakfast initiative provides a wonderful way for me to do that.

Kellogg's has decided to team up with Action For Healthy Kids to bring one million breakfasts to children in need. One thing that Action For Healthy Kids does is work with school districts to improve or begin breakfast programs by providing grants. This eliminates the stigma for children who need the help and instead makes it "the norm" for everyone to participate in. Kellogg's has made it a goal to donate one million breakfasts by the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year. {Love this!}

So how can you help?

Getting involved is easy. Every morning {from now until July 31, 2011}, take a picture or make a note of your breakfast. Then...

  • Text the word SHARE and a photo of your breakfast to 21534* {or}
  • Upload your photo to the Share Your Breakfast website {OR}
  • No picture? No problem! Visit Share Your Breakfast and simply tell them what you had for breakfast.
*Message and data rates may apply. See your carrier for details.

It's so easy to make a difference! Get the kids involved in taking pictures and let them help you on the phone or website so they can be a part of giving back.  Please spread the word about this to your friends and family in whatever way works best for you. Also, you can tweet about it using #ShareURbreakfast. {You don't have to register for anything on the website and there are no forms to fill out or passwords to remember.}

Let's overwhelm the website with our breakfast photos and rock this thing! There are so many little faces that are counting on this and you.

So what do you say? Are you "in"?

**I was not compensated in any way for this post. Kellogg's and TheMotherhood invited me to a closed meeting and I've agreed to post about their program while I receive no compensation in return. The initiative is worth it. The children are worth it. I believe in this.

Stop! I know many of you are doing your gift shopping right now as you sit at home and browse websites.

What if you could turn that "shopping from the comfort of your own home" into helping the charity of your choice?

I just found out about GiveBack.org and I am in love with the concept.

First, it's very easy to sign up. It takes just a second and just for signing up, I was given a $5 credit. From there, I went to "My Foundation" and searched for charities that I know and love. The next step is to shop! I can totally handle that. :) There are over 400 places to shop from so I know whoever or whatever it is I'm shopping for, I can find what I need.

When shopping from the GiveBack website, a percentage of the sale goes back to the charity I choose. These percentages are clearly shown on the website so I don't have to wonder how much my charity would be receiving. Giving is SOO easy this way!

And, if I want, I can just make a donation to the charity or charities I choose without shopping. 100% of what I donate goes right to them and this is an easy way to give to several charities. It helps me from jumping from website to website.

Here are some important things to note if you want to go ahead and sign up.

  • Get $5 today when you create your foundation
  • Make a donation using your credit card and receive a tax deduction
  • Shop our 400+ retailers and earn charitable dollars
  • Submit a story on how you’re giving back for a chance to win $1000 each week

100% of GiveBack donations go to the charities you support.

Please watch this video to see how this works.

Please take a moment to sign up and select your favorite charities. It's so important that we give back and this is an incredibly easy way to do that. Thank you, GiveBack for developing this website.

**I posted this as part of a campaign with One2One Network. As a "thank you" for posting, I was entered in a contest where winners are selected at random. More importantly, I posted about this website because I believe in it and feel it's worth sharing. I received no compensation. The views and opinions shared are my own. Others may not agree.
