I can remember when the movie Beauty And The Beast first came out. We were able to buy the movie on VHS and my sister and I glued ourselves to the screen making sure not to miss a second of the movie. We learned the entire movie by heart, songs and all. And even though we knew every second of every scene, the movie never lost it's magic.

I remember adoring the gowns that Belle wore in the film and the musical score "Be Our Guest". I wished to meet a handsome prince someday so I could live in a grand castle too. (We all know I eventually found my prince. (: )

Thankfully, I don't have to watch this movie on VHS anymore (although, I'm pretty sure I still own it). I was recently sent the Diamond Edition Blu-Ray and DVD combo of this remastered classic to review.

I called for a movie night with my little girl. We watched the movie together and I danced with her when the songs played. She loved it. It's amazing to share such a timeless classic with my daughter.

Here's some info from the press release for you to read:
Disney’s most requested film, Beauty and the Beast, arrives for the first time on Blu-ray Hi-Def as the second installment to the company’s new Diamond Collection. The Blu-ray transformation reveals the magic, music and majesty of the film as never before experienced with state-of-the-art picture restoration, pristine 7.1 Digital Surround Sound and hours of additional viewing experiences that include behind the scenes features, deleted scenes, enhanced music tracks, immersive games and more.
The first of only two animated films ever to be nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Picture (the second is 2009’s Up), Beauty and the Beast earned six Academy Award® nominations and won two Oscars® in 1992 for Best Original Song (“Beauty and the Beast”) and Best Original Score.
Unavailable in any form since 2003, Beauty and the Beast will be released from the Disney vault for a limited time only, arriving on a Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack (2 Blu-ray Discs + DVD) October 5, followed seven weeks later with the release of a 2-Disc standard definition DVD on November 23.
The Beauty and the Beast Blu-ray™ + DVD Combo Pack has a U.S. suggested retail price of $39.99 and the 2-Disc DVD set has a U.S. suggested retail price of $29.99.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to own this Disney classic! Movies like this are only available for a certain amount of time before they're locked up in the vault.

Hitting store shelves tomorrow is Tinker Bell's latest DVD, Tinker Bell And The Great Fairy Resue.

Here's the synopsis of the film taken from the Press Release:

Before she was ever introduced to Wendy and the Lost Boys, Tinker Bell met Lizzy, a girl with a steadfast belief in fairies.  Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue begins in summertime in the beautiful English countryside. An enchanting encounter unfolds when Tinker Bell is discovered by Lizzy, and as their different worlds unite, Tink develops a special bond with the curious girl in need of a friend.
As her fellow fairies launch a daring rescue, Tinker Bell takes a huge risk, putting her own safety and the future of the fairies in jeopardy.  This action-packed adventure takes the fairies of Pixie Hollow on a daring flight to London to save Tinker Bell and all of fairy kind.
Produced by DisneyToon Studios, Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue is a captivating and exciting adventure for all the family.
My Review:

This story is absolutely adorable and one that will be watched over and over again in our home. I love how the story shows the importance of friendship and the importance of a parent's involvement in their child's life. I won't go into details as I don't want to spoil the movie for you, but when (in this film) father and daughter understand each other, magical things can happen.

If you have a little princess fan in your home, this is a great movie to add to her library. She'll be totally taken by the story and probably start keeping an eye out for fairies in her own backyard. ;)

In the meantime, if you'd like to have some "fairy fun" with your little ones, hop over to this site.

Tomorrow, February 9th, marks the release of the newest Mickey Mouse Club House DVD: Minnie's Bowtique. Now, you may be surprised by this (then again, you may not) but Alex was VERY excited to review this DVD with me. The reason was not because he's a huge Minnie Mouse fan, it was more because anything with the label "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" on it, gets his vote.

Of course, no time could be wasted once this DVD arrived. We had to pop it in and watch it right away. I was happy to see that this DVD has 4 different episodes on it and Alex was happy to see he had "a lot of choices" as he put it.

We've watched each of the 4 episodes over and over. Alex really doesn't seem to care which one I turn on. He enjoys each of them and finds different things to laugh at . Personally, I adore hearing him sing the songs and answering the questions Minnie or Mickey asks as they try to solve problems.

Here's a video clip from Minnie's Bow-Tique. (Seriously cute if you ask me.)

And here's a sneak peek at Minnie's Pajama Party. (This episode is never-before-seen until 4-6-10.)

And just so you know the rest of the information on the DVD, I'll include some of the press release for you.

It's the grand opening of Minnie's Bow-tique, a store jam-packed with every kind of bow and bowtie imaginable. The selections include: the "Glow-Bow", a bow that changes color with every mood; the "Grow-Bow", a bow that grows to tremendous size by just adding water; flying "Butterfly-Bows"; and a "Photo-Bow" that snaps instant pictures. Problems arise when Pete, embarrassed about buying a lady's bow for his favorite aunt, causes a few accidental mishaps in the new store.
However, super salesperson Minnie finds the perfect bow for Pete. The Bow-tique's grand opening is a success - and it all ends in a Big Bow Show with the Clubhouse gang modeling the latest fashions under the biggest bow of all, a colorful, sky-high Rain-Bow.
In a never-before-seen episode, Minnie’s Pajama Party Minnie and the girls set up a fun Pajama Party sleepover for the day – but it’s not as easy as it sounds, especially with the addition of Pete and Willie the Giant!
MICKEY MOUSE CLUBHOUSE: MINNIE’S BOW-TIQUE
  • Minnie’s Bow-tique
  • Minnie’s Bee Story
  • Minnie’s Picnic
  • Minnie’s Pajama Party* (Never-before-seen episode until 4/6/10)
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie’s Bow-tique is available for U.S. $19.99 (SRP), Canada
$24.99 (SRP) from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

I would like to add that this DVD came with an adorable, magnetic frame. Include with the frame was Minnie Mouse and several different bows for a child to interchange. Only a select amount of DVD's will have this frame included with it, though. I think it would be a great Valentine's Day gift for a little one. (Alex plans on sharing this with either his little sister or one of his little girlfriends. He has yet to decide. lol) Also, in the bonus features is a game that can be played by using your remote control. Alex and I haven't tried that yet as he would rather watch the shows. :)

Hurry out and buy yours today! It's very cute and you don't have to worry about the content for your little ones. If anything, they'll be learning how to problem solve and be a good friend.

**I received a copy of Minnie's Bow-Tique on DVD to review in my home. This review is based strictly on my experience and opinion. I was not compensated in any way to influence my choice of words. Other opinions or experiences may not be the same as my own.**

Alex and I were recently able to review 2 of  the newest DVDs from Disney. Their titles were Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Choo-Choo Express and Handy Manny: Motorcycle Adventure.

Mickey’s Choo-Choo Express is a full length feature about Mickey and his friends using an old train to bring snow that will never melt (made by Professor Von Drake) down from the mountain for some play time. Mickey plans a party for everyone and he  makes sure to get to every train station on time so the party can begin. He and his friends even bump into Santa and Mrs. Claus on the way.

This DVD is adorable and even includes a bonus episode. Alex seems to enjoy this feature so he can choose which Mickey show he wants to watch.

Here is more information from the press release:

Bonus Episode

The gang is eager to help, but Willie's "little list" of chores turns out to be a big hassle considering how small they are in the giant's home. With a big "can do" spirit, the Clubhouse gang set about the chores and all the jobs get done in time earning a mammoth thank you from Willie when he gets home.

Handy Manny: Motorcycle Adventure is also a full-length feature that has been getting a lot of play time around here. Alex is crazy about this DVD.

In this story, Handy Manny is taking his tools to a family reunion. On the way, his tools learn that friends can be family while they face a few different adventures together.

This DVD also has a bonus episode that Alex watches as often as he’s allowed. It puts him right in the holiday mood as Handy Manny and his tools help their friends get ready to celebrate by making gifts and fixing things up.

image002 I’m here to tell you about another Christmas movie that your family will love. Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed In at the House of Mouse is a new animated DVD that shares the true Christmas spirit.

Mickey and his friends just get through with their party when they find out they are snowed in together. While they’re there, they decide to remember some of the Christmas’s of their past together. This DVD will take your family through different, classic, Christmas stories as told by Mickey and his gang. I remembered quite a few of the cartoons, myself.

After watching this one time with my toddler son, it quickly became a DVD that he wanted to watch regularly. It’s so wonderful to share in classic DVD’s like these with him.

Here’s some info from the press release:

Disney Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse, which debuted in 2001, stars more than 35 Disney characters including Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Bambi, Dumbo, The Lion King and more.

BONUS FEATURES

*Episode of animated series House of Mouse.

*The Sounds of Christmas – discover the secrets of movie sound effects with a Disney sound effects artist. This also includes a special version of “Twas the NightBefore Christmas.”

*Sing-Along Songs “Deck the Halls” and “Sleigh Ride”

Disney Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse is available for U.S. $26.99 (SRP), Canada $29.99 (SRP) from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

STREET DATE: November 3, 2009

Some of my readers tend to ask me if a movie is scary or sad. This DVD does show some of the famous “enemies” of their classic films but they’re not present to play a “bad” role. They’re simply part of the group of friends that make this Christmas special. If there is ever any question, though, I suggest parents view the DVD’s before showing them to any little ones.

On October 27th, Disney released Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure in a Blu-ray combo pack for sale.

We were able to review a copy of the movie here in my home and surprisingly enough, Alex (my 2 year old son) even sat with me to watch it. I found the movie to be an adorable tale teaching the importance of friendship.  This is something that I enjoyed from beginning to end and wouldn’t mind if my son (and daughter when she’s old enough) watch over and over again.

Here’s the synopsis taken from the press release:

In Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure Tinker Bell’s greatest adventure yet takes place in Autumn, as the fairies are on the mainland changing the colors of the leaves, tending to pumpkin patches, and helping geese fly south for the winter.  The rare Blue Moon will rise, and when its light passes through the magical Fall Scepter that Tinker Bell has been summoned to create, Pixie Hollow’s supply of pixie dust will be restored.  But when Tinker Bell accidentally puts all of Pixie Hollow in jeopardy, she must venture out across the sea on a secret quest to set
things right.

Along her journey Tink meets new friends, including Blaze, a cute and courageous firefly that helps Tinker Bell complete her mission.  It’s a long and dangerous journey, full of astonishing encounters, a few narrow escapes and a daring rescue by Tink’s friend Terence.   Tinker Bell
and the Lost Treasure
is an exciting adventure and a once-in-a-blue-moon experience for the entire family.

The DVD also has fun bonus features on it. These include:

• Scenes You Never Saw – These fairy funny alternate scenes did not make it into the
movie.
• Magical Guide to Pixie Hollow – Tinker Bell and Terence are your guides as you explore
the autumn area of Pixie Hollow.
• Deleted Scenes with Filmmaker Introductions – Play deleted scenes with optional intros
by Director Klay Hall and Producer Sean Lurie.
• Pixie Hollow Comes To Florida – Discover how the filmmakers helped transform Epcot
into Pixie Hollow.

** I recommend you pick this up for your family. It would also make a great stocking stuffer. :) **
