I love a good, classic story. As a little girl, one of my favorite movies to watch was A Little Princess. It taught me a valuable lesson of making the best of every situation.

Now I have a very similar story that I can share with my little ones in VeggieTale's newest movie, The Penniless Princess. We all sat down to watch it together and enjoyed it from beginning to end.

Here's the movie's synopsis:
Sweet Sara Crewe has everything a little girl could want - a loving family, lots of friends, and a closet full of frilly dresses!  But when life takes a turn and Sara goes from riches to rags, will she realize that her true worth lies not in what she has, but what she has in her heart?  Find out in this inspiring new story from VeggieTales that reminds kids who they are in God's eyes.
Of course, Eliana was all about the princess. I knew she would be but I loved what the movie taught her about being a princess. She learned that if God is her father, she is a princess, regardless of what anyone else may see or tell her about herself.

Alex, too, really enjoyed the movie. That's another thing I appreciate about VeggieTales movies; no matter if it seems that a movie is more geared toward boys or girls, both will enjoy it and take something away from it.

The Penniless Princess keeps every bit of its classic roots in tact while adding in Biblical principles to make it a story to influence the future of the little ones who watch it.

If you happen to be a fan of Silly Songs, I'm sure you're going to love the new one featured in The Penniless Princess. It's called Best Friends Forever {BFF} and features all the fun codes we find ourselves speaking in over text messages. Totally cute!

Have you seen the button on my sidebar? You know, the one that says "VeggieTales Official Mommy Blogger"? That means that I am A HUGE FAN of all things Big Idea. Their products enrich my family and teach my children important lessons in a way that speaks right to them at their level.

This season, VeggieTales has released the movie The Little Drummer Boy. My family has watched this again and again since we've received it and I'm happy to add it to the movies we watch together during the Christmas season.

Here's the synopsis from the press release.

In this Veggie-version of a holiday classic, Junior Asparagus stars as The Little Drummer Boy, a lonely child who fins the true meaning of Christmas when he stumbles upon the birth of the baby Jesus. A story of hope, love, and forgiveness, this timeless tale will warm the hearts of children everywhere!

We all love this movie and I enjoy hearing my little ones laugh just as hard at the funny parts as they did the time before. These movies are so well made and really know how to hold a child's attention while making us big people laugh as well.

BUY IT: You can purchase this movie in a number of different retail stores for $14.99

There's a new DVD coming to the VeggieTales collection and stores everywhere and I can't wait to tell you about it. VeggieTales Princess and the Pop Star will be available to purchase on August 16th for a SRP of $14.93.

We actually received this for review recently and couldn't wait to pop it in the DVD player to watch. The kiddos and I all piled on the couch and waited for the story to unfold. To say the least, we were very entertained and learning life lessons as we watched.

Before I get further into our experience of the DVD, let me share with you the full synopsis and DVD features.

About VeggieTales Princess and the Pop Star: A Story of Trading Places:Princess Poppyseed’s life on her family’s farm is far from the glamorous but lonely world of her favorite pop singer Vanna Banana.  On a chance meeting at a playground, Vanna and Princess cross paths and realize that they look almost exactly alike—which leads to the crazy secret plan where they decide to switch lives!  As each girl realizes that the life they longed for doesn’t fulfill all of their dreams, they learn that the life God gave them is the one for which they were uniquely and lovingly designed. DVD Bonus Features:
  • Audio Commentary
  • “Astonishing Wigs” Silly Songs Sing-Along
  • “Right Where You Belong” Sing-Along
  • Behind the music with Francesca Battistelli and Friends
  • Princess Poppyseed’s Points For Being Uniquely You

Our Thoughts:

The story told in VeggieTales Princess and the Pop Star is a story that I'm happy to let my kiddos watch and learn from. Quite honestly, VeggieTales videos always find a way to speak to me in my own life too. The overriding message shared in this video is to want the life you have and realize that you are made with a purpose.

Of course, the music and fun characters make it that much more entertaining for my kids to watch. I do believe little Eliana had to bust a move a time or two as Vanna Banana music's played. The more my kids enjoy a DVD, the more they'll watch it. And with VeggieTales, the more they watch it, the more their life is influenced for the better.

Yes, my children enjoy this DVD but more importantly, THIS MOM gives it 2 thumbs up.

Here's a sneak peek video for you!

VeggieTales is always finding new stories to tell and new ways to teach viewers invaluable lessons. (Even adult viewers can learn a thing or two from VeggieTales.)

Recently, the newest DVD, It's A Meaningful Life was released for sale on store shelves. This is a story just in time for the holidays and I think it would be perfect for any family.

Here's the synopsis:
It was the biggest football game of his life and Stewart (Larry the Cucumber) had a chance to win it all. Injured in one bad play, his hopes of playing in the Salad Bowl – and living a life of fame and fortune – are dashed forever. Years later, silly-but-sweet Stewart loves his family, friends and job at the toy train factory, but still wonders “what if” things had been different. When he meets a mysterious train conductor who can turn back time, Stewart gets a chance to have the life he always wanted. Will he finally find all he’s been looking for? And what does this mean for those he loves most? Find out in this story of wonder that’s a lesson in being content.
We were sent a copy to review so we made plans to have a family movie night that evening. Eliana went down for bed and I popped some popcorn for the hubster, Alex, and myself.  Then, we sat down together and hit "play".

Alex was into this story from the very beginning. He focussed on every part of every scene. Maybe he was just waiting for the next scene with a train in it, maybe not. Whatever the reason, he walked away from that show with a new lesson in his back pocket. In fact, the other day he turned to me and said, "Mommy, God has a plan for my life. That's what Bob and Larry said!" (Talk about something to melt my heart!)

Since we first watched this DVD, Alex has wanted to watch it every single day. I can't allow him to sit for an hour in front of the TV every day, but we do watch bits and pieces together from time to time. He has his favorite parts and we know where they are. :)

As a mom, I love that he loves this DVD. Anything that will teach him how important our choices are and how to be content with what we have is something I don't mind being played over and over again.

Buy It! You can purchase It's A Meaningful Life for around $14.99
