I'm trying to get ideas for Christmas gifts, but have not started shopping yet. I'm thinking I should start picking things up here and there pretty soon, though. It will be here before we know it!

*OK. Note to self. If you should desire to look in stores at baby clothes for Eliana, DO NOT look at the shoes. Just steer clear of them.

Try things like:

1. Running in the other direction.
2. Avoiding the shoe area all together.
3. Chanting phrases like, "those are not in the budget" over and over.

If options 1-3 don't suit your fancy, do what works in the moment. Just get the heck away from the shoes. Mmmkay?


Should you ever find yourself trapped in the shoe section, NEVER pick up the shoes and hold them in your hands. After you do that, talking yourself into putting them down could be extremely difficult. Got it? Good!*

Sorry you all had to witness this. I nearly had a mini breakdown today where I would have bought several pairs of sandals and shoes for Eliana. Thankfully, I only caved on one pair and they were on clearance. That's OK, right?

What if I told you I was supposed to be picking up my son's birthday gift? Still alright? (I did buy that. Just for the record.)

The world of shopping for a little girl just got a bit more awesome for me and I may need an intervention soon. LOL Hay-ulp!

So, you’re looking for that perfect something for the man on your holiday shopping list. If he’s anything like my husband is, he’s not going to offer you much help in the way of gift ideas. Luckily, I have reviewed a couple items that you can put right on your list.

First, we were sent the Roosevelt Jacket in Coal Black from Field & Stream to review. My husband works as a professional and needed a jacket that was nice enough to wear to meet with clients while being casual enough to wear with jeans.

This jacket fits him to a “T” and he wears it constantly. It’s made of canvas and has a nice weight to it so it’s  perfect for wearing in our state’s ever changing weather. It also has a 100% twill lining.

BUY IT: You can purchase this jacket at Field & Stream for $70.00.

We were also able to review a Logo Knit Beanie and matching Logo Knit Scarf in Charcoal from Perry Ellis (as pictured to the right in the photo below).

These 2 items are knit with 100% acrylic and are very warm and comfortable to wear. The Logo Knit Beanie and Scarf are both One Size Fits All. Also, the Logo Knit Beanie is also knit lined which makes it warm to wear.

My husband has not yet worn these 2 items outside as the weather hasn’t called for it, but, he did try them on and is very impressed by their quality.

BUY IT: You can purchase a Logo Knit Beanie for around $37.50 and the Logo Knit Scarf for around $45.00 in select stores carrying the Perry Ellis line.

Let me just tell you, my weekend was a blast from beginning to end.

Friday evening, the hubster and I went out for a fantastic feast at a Japanese Steakhouse. After that, we walked and shopped with Starbucks in hand to keep us warm. It was pretty cold outside and we were shopping in an outdoor mall. :) I decided that I wanted to stay in and rent a movie at the end of our date so we did just that.

Saturday morning at 8, my mom arrived with an egg nog latte in hand to start the day off just right. We went to Tony's for breakfast and split an omelet. (Tony's makes good food but their portions are HUGE). After breakfast, we went to Frankenmuth and enjoyed ourselves as we shopped the town, ate our yummy German food, shared quite a few laughs.

Sunday, my actual birthday, we started our morning at church with my Grandparents. I'm a lucky girl to get them all to myself every week. After church, we let Alex get a nap in before we headed to the hubster's cousin's house for a family Christmas party. It was a great time. There was plenty of food, good conversation, and even music. Mike and his cousin played Christmas songs on guitar and piano.

See? 29 doesn't mean boring. Apparently it means even more silliness.

Make sure you always put your garbage in the "Donke Schon".

Another pretty shot. I took this before getting pelted in the face by Michigan's cruel snow/ice flying from the rooftops.

I still have some birthday money left from our adventure out and I'm not sure what I want to buy. Hmmm...any suggestions?
