I have said a lot of silly prayers in my time. When I was little, I kept a prayer journal. A book covered in red fabric with blue and purple flowers and the sloppiest handwriting of a young girl held within, I found this book not too long ago.

There weren't too many prayers inside but one in particular held my attention and sent me into a fit of giggles.

"Dear God, I want to ask for something." This is how I started my prayer. Then I proceeded to hand Him my Christmas wish list. Yes, I figured if I wasn't supposed to ask Santa for anything, I could ask God. {Can you tell "gift giving" is my love language?}

The best request? "I really want a rainbow clown wig."

What on earth?!? Oh, that just made me laugh and I wondered what in the world I ever thought I would use that for, paired with my requests for baby dolls and bottles with disappearing juice. It didn't make any sense but that was so "me".

This little book came to my mind this morning as I was getting ready. I was looking through my closet and thinking of the lovely, warm weather I needed to dress for and grabbed my one, purple maxi skirt.

"This may sound silly, God, but I would really like some more maxi skirts" I prayed. I started to giggle at myself. "What made me think God would hear a prayer like that and actually care?"

Just then, I heard a whisper in my heart "Of course I heard you. I also understand your prayer."

"PFFT! Yah, right, Amy! I'm so sure He understands a wackadoo prayer like that" I thought in response. My sarcasm had gotten the best of me.

Again, another whisper...

"I do understand, Amy. I made you. I 'get' you. You are my design, not your own."

...humility, joy, love, and peace all mushed up together, hit me at once. I was overwhelmed in a pool of "Accepted".

For the first time in my life, I saw God so near to me. I have heard great, religious speakers talk of intimacy with God before, and I thought I knew what it meant, but I never thought this. I never thought it meant I would feel that He understands me and feel that in a positive way.  I more expected His "I understand you" to be more of a "Yes, that's nice. Can you think about something real now?"

As if He needed to tolerate me.

As if I'm too flawed for real acceptance.

As if He wants me to just keep trying at life and we'll see how close I get to being who He wants me to be in the end.

God doesn't just put up with me. He doesn't roll His eyes and sigh at my silly thoughts. Today, I felt Him smile at me as He reminded me just how accepted I am. And with that acceptance, I felt a "Tell me more" tug in my heart. I felt it to the point that I just wanted to sit down and talk with Him about whatever came to mind.

This is the conversation with Him I have been needing for a while.

The little girl version of me knew I could talk to Him about everything. When did I lose that? When did I grow out of that kind of faith? It was a good thought to ponder as I appreciated its return.

And because I'm a musical person, this little song popped into my head. Maybe you know it? It's called "I Love You Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel.

Sure, it's a silly old song but in thinking of it, I smiled and said "God, you get this too, don't you?"

Maybe you need the kind reminder too. Maybe you need to hear a "silly old song" from the bottom of His heart. In the interest of sharing this light hearted reminder, I have this song for you.

Finally, my daughter told me that I should pick "dis song" {as she says}. I guess she thinks it's silly. :)

Anyone remember these days?

Something's come up and I've decided that this would be a great opportunity to "unplug" for a bit. I'll be keeping an eye on emails but only responding to urgent ones. And rather than leave the crickets to chirp here, I thought I'd share a favorite song of mine for you each day during the week.

To get us rolling, I'll start off the week with this song. This takes me back to the days of cruising around in my car. Far back before kiddos or even the hubster. It was good then and it's good today. Enjoy!

When was the last time you shut down everything for a week?

You know that feeling of sweet reflection that comes when thinking of a loved one who has passed away? I've been feeling that a little bit today, but I've been feeling it with LOADS of hope sprinkled on top. The great miracle of Good Friday is that Easter Sunday follows right behind, promising new life and a second chance. It makes me so grateful "that God so loved the world...".

And although it's not very "Easter-y" of a tune, I love the theme of this and thought it is the perfect song to share.

You Cannot Lose My Love
By: Sara Groves

You will lose your baby teeth.
At times, you'll lose your faith in me.
You will lose a lot of things,
But you cannot lose my love.

You may lose your appetite,
Your guiding sense of wrong and right.
You may lose your will to fight,
But you cannot lose my love.

You will lose your confidence.
In times of trial, your common sense.
You may lose your innocence,
But you cannot lose my love.

Many things can be misplaced;
Your very memories be erased.
No matter what the time or space,
You cannot lose my love.
You cannot lose,
You cannot lose,
You cannot lose my love.

Have a blessed weekend and a Happy Easter!

was when I received a digital download of JJ Heller's latest album.

I've shared her music on my blog before. I feel like her music resonates so much of what is in my heart and I always walk away from hearing a song thinking "those are the perfect words to describe...".

Anyway, I'm going to be giving this album a good listen and I'll let you know what I think of it later.

But before I let you go on such a brief post, I'll leave you with a video of one of JJ's newest songs. You may think it's a love song and you're right. But I suspect this is a song about being a mom. Don't you?

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

When I get to see the faces of my children every morning without worrying about attacks;
PhotobucketWhen I get to arrive to church every Sunday to practice my freedom of religion;
When I think of the fact that I'm even here at all;
I thank YOU for fighting to protect these freedoms. Thank you for your sacrifice and your heart.
Without you, I probably wouldn't be at all.

I heard this song on the radio today and it made me cry thinking of my own mom when my little brother was in Iraq and my Grandma when my Grandpa was in the Navy. I even thought of my cousins who have served in the marines and still sacrifice for our freedom today. I love you guys! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Well over a year ago, I was positive that Alex wouldn't be our only child. I knew God had at least one more baby for our home. I started praying for that baby before I was even pregnant.

I named her Eliana (yes I prayed for a girl) because it means "God has answered" or "God has responded" in Hebrew.

After months and months of not being pregnant, I finally had a positive pregnancy test. You should have heard the sobs of joy. In my heart of hearts I knew that this baby was my Eliana. She was my answered prayer.

A year ago today, she was born.

And she made my happy heart even happier.

3 months

She grew

6 months
and grew

9 months
and grew to be the sweetest little girl I know.

one year old
As today marks the day she's officially a toddler, my arms remember the infant and my heart remembers the moment she entered the world. I don't know what the next year holds, but I can tell you...

...I'm so thankful for her first.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ELIANA.

5 years ago, the hubster and I said "I do". Our wedding day was absolutely beautiful and we were happy to  share such an amazing time with family and friends. And 5 years later, I still get as giddy as our wedding day whenever the hubster is around.

I can't believe all that's happened in our 5 years together. It's been quite an amazing ride.

Ups and downs and in-betweens considered, I can't wait to see the next 5 years and beyond.

My hubster is THE best and God has been so good to us.

I love you, pumpkin! May God continue to smile on us and our family. Here's to His faithfulness and our shared love. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

And now, if you please, I would love you to join me in listening to the song I walked down the aisle to. It's not traditional at all but it fits the hubster and I perfectly. In fact, we had musician friends Tone & Niche playing at our wedding ceremony which made it extra special.

**sigh** I love love. :)

Oh. And don't worry. We've been celebrating in style. I'll share more about that soon. :)

Worry.

It's something that, at one point or another, controls all of us. We become worried. Perhaps it's justifiable. Maybe it's even nonsensical (if we can be that honest with ourselves). Whatever it is, when it hits, it can immobilize us.

My Pastor spoke on anxiety today at church. I tuned in and really listened to what he was saying because I've suffered from anxiety in my life. OK. Allow me to correct that. I suffer (present tense) from anxiety. I worry about the strangest things sometimes. At other times, I feel like my worry is rightfully so. Even in those times, it doesn't get me anywhere.

He had a series of great points in his message but what stood out the most was his point on pride. Anxiety can overcome us...especially in times of need. But could it be our pride that is standing in the way of getting the answer to our concern? Needs should be shared with others. We humans were made for community not isolation. But if there are things we need, be it emotional, spiritual, or physical, we should share that with the people in our lives. THEY may be the ones God wants to use to help answer that need for us.

I wondered to myself, how many times have I told myself "I just have to get through this." and left it at that. There have been many times in my life, even recently, when I forced myself to deal with whatever my issue was on my own. Alone.

I became so frustrated too. I would pray out loud "God, don't you HEAR ME?". I would cry and sob while telling myself the answer is on its way. However, I would also live my life lying to others. If someone asked how I was doing, I would say "Great!". Could that person have been the one I was sent to help me solve my issue? Well, I'll never know.

I do know now, though, that I don't want to live that way anymore.

Anxiety, worry, and isolation have got to go. I've got to get out of my own way and let things go.

No.

I mean, I have to really let things go. I can't just tell myself I'm going to do it.

Anyway, all of my pondering on my anxieties and what I need to do with them made me think of this one song. I've heard it a handful of times but I feel like I can't hear it enough. So, I'll end this by posting a video. It may be encouraging to you too!

Be blessed!

I often get updates in my e-mail or even find things as I browse the web that make me say "Oooooo". And while I'd love to share each and every one of these things with you, I wanted it to somehow "make sense" on my blog. To tie it all together, I've created the "Eye Spy" girl to share these special things with you (and remind myself of the details when the hubster asks me for a gift idea).  Enjoy!

Veggie Tales is releasing a new DVD called Sweetpea Beauty on July 31st. This is something that they created especially for their female audience and as a mom to a little girl, I couldn't be more excited. Here's a bit of the synopsis found at the Sweetpea Beauty page:

Once upon a time, there lived a royally sour blueberry, a fair rhubarb maiden and a dastardly deceptive mirror! Sweetpea Beauty knows that what’s on the inside is what matters most, but insecure Queen Blueberry can’t see past her own reflection! So, when a decree is handed down that only the most beautiful can rule the land, the Queen gets nervous and things turn ugly! Banished to the dark forest, Sweetpea’s fate seems bleak until a charming prince, a band of merry minstrels and seven snow peas come to the rescue! Will Sweetpea and her friends be able to warn the Queen in time to save her from the clutches of the tricky mirror – or will the crumbling kingdom and the Queen’s own heart be lost forever? Find out in this fairy "Veggie" tale about the real meaning of true beauty.

Now, the whole reason I'm sharing this with you is because I just saw this video for Sweetpea Beauty from Nichole Nordeman. She is one of my favorite, female vocalists and the song she wrote is just precious. It reaches hearts of all ages. Check it out! After you listen to it, click the link I've included in the post to order your DVD. :)

**I was not compensated in any way for this post. My "finds" are selected and posted by my own choosing while I receive nothing in return. (is it that hard to believe a blogger would post something without gaining anything? lol)

Ladies and gentleman, I’m looking for a sponsor or two to get me to Blogher 2010 in New York City.  This conference will not only provide an opportunity to gain exposure for your company among the thousands of attendees, but it will also teach me a thing or 2 about how to work with you more effectively and grow my blog.

I’ve seen several bloggers who have a handful of sponsors to get to the conference but I’m really hoping to get there with one or two companies. This would provide an opportunity for me to give my best effort to earning my sponsorship(s). So, I feel that it would be best to give either one company 100% or 2 companies equal halves of my time and effort.

In an effort to let you know a little more about how I “roll”, I’ve put together a special video just for you. Yes, yes. It’s time for some Blogher Karaoke.

Please feel free to contact me for more information.

I may have to retire my own "music videos" after seeing this one. I honestly haven't enjoyed a video like this in a long, LONG time.

For you country music fans, this may be a song you're already familiar with. This video is of a song by Randy Houser called "Boots On". This song is from his album Anything Goes which was released last November.  You may also know Randy Houser for his writing of the song "Honkey Tonk Badonkadonk" which was made famous by Trace Adkins. (I LOVE that song!!)

Anyway, I've drifted from the point of this post. Here's the most ADORABLE boy who has given me a run for my money. ;)

Enjoy!
